About Us

The Rotary Club of Ashtabula was chartered in 1921.

We meet each Friday at 12 noon for lunch at the Elks Lake Front Lodge in Ashtabula, Ohio. The cost of the lunch is $9.

Each meeting is opened by the President, and the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance led by the "Program Committee". The Program Committee is a group of 4 to 5 memebers who are responsible for the content of the meetings during their assigned month. The talk can be given by one of the committee members about their business or personal interests. Many times the Committee invites a guest speaker in to present information they feel might be of interest to the Club. The talks last from 15 to 30 minutes.

We currently have about 50 members with very diverse and interesting backgrounds and experiences. We have members who are doctors, insurance brokers, grocers, financial advisors, real estate brokers, technicians, contractors and many other professions.

Membership dues are $170 per year, which includes a subscription to Rotary International's monthly magazine "The Rotarian". New members are also assessed an Initiation fee of $100 to help cover the costs of providing a Rotary pin, badge, plaque, books and other recognition pieces.

Contact Us or our Membership Chairperson to inquire about joining our Club.

We are an active Rotary Club with many different community projects and fund-raisers.

Our major projects include The Nutcracker, where we provide handicapped children and adults with fun, food, gifts and a special performance of this classic musical at the Ashtabula Arts Center; and the Mentorship program, where we award scholarships to high-school students participating in the County's Mentorship program. We also provide dictionaries to all the 3rd graders in the Buckeye Local, Ashtabula Area and Sts. John and Paul school districts.

Our  main fund-raisers are an invitational golf outing in the summer, Winter Spaghetti Dinner and a Spring Lottery.

We offer plenty of opportunities to get involved!

We hold a "Queen of Hearts" 50-50 drawing each meeting, with 1/3 going to the daily winner; 1/3 going to the Club and 1/3 going into the "pot". The daily winner gets to draw from a deck of cards; if the Queen of Hearts is drawn, the lucky winner gets the pot. If a different card is drawn, the pot builds up AND the drawn card is removed from the deck. In the summer, the Queen was finally drawn when there were only two cards left in the deck and the pot was almost $1,000!!

Throughout the year we have several social events, including holiday parties, picnics and trips to professional sporting events.
